Cataclysm Gold Guide – Gold Farming Tips

Hey there and welcome to my Cataclysm Gold Guide. In this post, I will cover some essential tips for gold farming. You can either farm like a pauper or farm like a king!!

Cataclysm Gold Farming Tips:

Firstly, you must have plenty of bag space. So, it is a wise investment to upgrade your bags as soon as you can afford it. This will save you lots of trips back to your home base to unload. On this note, use your hearthstone to port back to your home base as soon as your bags a full. Set your hearthstone to a city with a bank, so that you can unload your bags quickly.

Time is Money, Friend!

A Goblin has a pretty neat trick up its sleeves. Did you know that Goblins can summon a banker to its location? What an awesome ability!! This means you dont have to port back to the city bank frequently while farming. I can’t wait to try it out as soon as Cataclysm hits.

Since the Cataclysm maps will change quite significantly, the usual farming places and gold farming maps might not be applicable anymore. A neat trick for gold farming is to keep an eye out for the stuff that you need while leveling up. You can double back and farm for the items that you think will bring you lots of gold later after you’ve leveled up. Remember to grab all the flight paths so that you can fly back to the zone that looks promising.

Try farming instances. Get your guild mates together and run dungeons. Farming instances in a group might be fast way to stock up on loot. I don’t think the lower level instances have changed much with Cataclysm, so this will be pretty neat.

There are certain classes that will have an advantage for gold farming. If you scroll down, you can read more about it in my previous post. To summarize what I have shared previously, your gold farmer toon should have:

1. Mobility – You’ll need a fast mount for fast gold farming. Shapeshifters are totally awesome for farming.
2. Crowd Control – Use characters like the Hunter or Warlock to gold farm as their pets will kill any hostile mobs for you.
3. High Level Characters – Use a capped level 85 character to farm! It makes the most sense!

The truth of the matter is, if you really want to earn LOADS of gold from farming, low level loot and low level gathered stuff (like ore, gems, herbs and skins) won’t hack it. At best, you will only earn some silver and a couple of pieces of gold unless there’s a huge supply crunch on your server.

The BEST FARMING always happens at past Level 70. So, my sweetest advice for you is… if you’re thinking of farming, you should level up a gatherer really quickly. Don’t take sidetrips for reputation or achievements. Just run as fast as you can to the finishing line. Level 85 characters will be able to farm anywhere easily, without the fuss of defending yourself. Talk about dedicated focus!

A neat way to reach the level cap of 85 in record time is to get a Cataclysm Leveling Guide. And there is no faster guide on earth than the Zygor Guides. You should check it out. It’s the best in-game leveling guide that my high level guildmates and I have used for years.

Zygors beats any free leveling guide hands down and it has already been prepared for the new paths and routes in Cataclysm. The free guides like QuestHelper will take months before it’s debugged and working properly for the new maps of Azeroth. So, this is another investment worth seriously considering…

Want to make gold? Get a Level 85 character fast! That’s the most effective way to farm, mon!

Cataclysm Gold Guide – Auction House Mastery

Hey there and welcome to my Cataclysm Gold Guide. In this post, I will cover the most essential area that you must master in order to make tons of gold while playing the World of Warcraft…

Cataclysm Gold Secrets on Auction House Mastery

This to me is the most important aspect to making lots of gold in the World of Warcraft. It is the fastest most effective way to get ahead of your competitors. For items with a high selling price but medium demand, this skill becomes absolutely crucial. An example is the sale of Glyphs on the Auction House.

The main skills that you need to learn to master the Auction House involve:-

  • Setting Attractive Bid Prices to entice players who don’t really need your stuff
  • Setting The Best Buy Prices that will get players to buy your stuff on the AH immediately
  • Smart Undercutting is essential for selling items that have medium demand and high selling prices
  • Smart Pricing involves not selling your stuff for the cheapest price
  • Knowing Who Your Buyers are will help you price your items better
  • Knowing Who Your Competition is and when they post their auctions will give you an advantage when undercutting

What should you Auction?

  • Do not Auction Vendor Trash – these Grey named items and should be sold to the nearest vendor
  • Do Sell White Items – some of these are rare and are required by crafters
  • Quick Tip on Auctioning White Items – don’t auction these more than twice (sometimes Whites can be useless and not in demand)
  • Must Sell Green Items – these will be picked up by other players and Enchanters
  • Do Sell Patterns and Recipes – these usually carry a high demand on the Auction House
  • Must Sell Cloth! – this will be bought by Tailors, First Aiders and people looking to up their reputations at Cities for mounts
  • Do Sell Mysterious Eggs – some players buy these often in hopes of getting a flying mount

I hope you’ve found this post helpful in making gold in Cataclysm. If you’re really serious about making tons of gold in the World of Warcraft, I highly recommend this comprehensive WoW Gold Making Gold Guide – the Sko Guide. This guide teaches you everything you will need to know about making lots of gold via the Auction House.

Cataclysm Gold Guide – Gold Making Tips

Hey there and welcome to my Cataclysm Gold Guide.

The first tip I would like to share is picking your professions. This is where you have to start in order to make gold in Cataclysm. If you set this up right, you have very little to worry about.

Firstly, you should pick a server that you want to call your home. You should set up all your money making toons in one faction and build your economy up from there. The idea is, you’re building a team that will complement each other in making gold.

Gold Making Tip #1: Your Race Matters

Some races have a special bonus when it comes to a profession. You should take advantage of this!

Special Alliance Racial Traits:

Archeology
Dwarves get a +15 bonus with the Explorer trait

Engineering
Gnomes get a +15 skill increase as with the Engineering Specialist trait

Jewelcrafting
Draeneis get a +5 skill bonus for their Gemcutting ability

Skinning
Worgens Flayer trait increases this profession skill by +15

Special Horde Racial Traits:

Herbalism
Taurens are able to gather faster and have a +15 skill bonus via their Cultivation trait

Skinning
Trolls have Beast Slaying abilities that gives a 5% damage bonus against Beasts

Enchanting
Blood Elves have Arcane Affinity that gives +10 bonus for this profession

Alchemy
Goblins get a +15 skill boost from their Better Living through Chemistry trait

Special Gathering Profession Bonuses:

Mining
You will get a passive trait, Toughness, which increases your Stamina

Herbalism
You will get a special Heal Over Time ability that is pretty useful for PvP, PvE and raiding

Skinning
You will earn a passive ability, Master of Anatomy, which increases your Critical Strike Rating

Gold Making Tip #2: Getting Started

An ideal set up to get started on one server is to have at least 2 gatherers that will mine, skin and collect herbs for you. This will certainly increase your gold income significantly. This is because there will always be high level players who are willing to pay a good amount of gold for profession materials. They need this to level up their professions quickly.

Here’s a quick recap on the other professions that use the materials from the 3 gathering professions:-

Easiest Gathering Profession: Skinning
Leatherworkers and Tailors need skins for their craft. Skinning is also one of the easiest of gathering professions, as you can kill beasts while leveling up. You can also skin beasts that other players kill. So, in a packed server, skinning can be really really easy.

Medium Difficulty Gathering Profession: Herbalism
Alchemist and Scribes (Inscription) need herbs for their craft. Lot’s of it! This is the second most easiest amongst the gathering professions as herbs are plentiful especially in the low level areas. You should aim to gather herbs during off peak hours on your server. This can save you lots of time!

Hardest Gathering Profession: Mining
Alchemists will buy the ore that you sell to transmute it to more profitable ones (like iron to gold). Blacksmiths also need ore for everything that they craft. Engineers and Jewelcrafters will need them too. As you can see, this is a very profitable gathering profession to pick up, but it can also be the most time consuming. Ore is typically found at the boundaries of the any leveling zone, so you will need a fast mount to move around while mining.

Gold Making Tip #3: Picking a Class

So, what class should you pick for your gatherers? Easy. Here are a few attributes that you should consider…

#1: Mobility
Shamans with their Ghost Wolf ability, Druids with their Travel Form and Mages with Blink are the ideal candidates for fast gathering. You can move from node to node without spending 3 seconds mounting and dismounting. Mages can also port back to a major city to deposit bags full of materials. That’s really cool!

#2: Crowd Control
Hunters and Warlocks have pets who can tend to wandering hostile mobs while you gather. This means that you can solely focus on gathering while your pet protects you. High level Frost Mages can also summon a pet to help them out.

#3: High Level Characters
You can also gather easily while ignoring the hits you take if your character is of a high enough level, This means that you don’t need to stop to pay any attention to the mobs. Long live the Death Knights!

Gold Making Tip #4: Leveling Up Your Gathering Skills

Here’s a really good tip to level up your gathering skills. When you create your first toon, pick up Skinning and Herbalism right away. You will find lots of animals to skin as you quest and herbs will be strewn all over the low leveling zones. These are the 2 easiest gathering professions anyway.

When you reach level 40, you now have the option to pick up mining. Mining is very profitable as the demand for ore, stone and gems are very high. Also, as mining nodes are out of the way of the leveling zones, having a fast mount is a logical necessity before picking up mining.

By then, you would have made enough gold from Skinning and Herbalism to comfortably purchase your fast mount and training that comes with it. The only downer about picking up mining at level 40 is that you would have to double back to the starting zones to get this profession running. But it should be well worth your time.

Gold Making Tip #5: A Quick Word on Crafting

The price for leveling up crafting professions is usually pretty hefty. It is very material intensive and many items that you make won’t sell for much on the AH.

In my experience, there are only 2 professions that can make you a decent amount of gold below level 70 and they are Inscription and (Dis)Enchanting. Other professions like Tailoring, Leatherworking and Blacksmithing will only yield a nice amount of gold once your professions go past level 300.

For Inscription to be profitable, you will need to have a Herbalist to keep you well stocked for inks. Learning glyphs can also take a long while as there is an in-built cooling off period between the hours you can learn special glyphs that sell for a good amount of gold. If you’re patient, this can be a very lucrative profession.

With the recent changes to the Glyph System in Cataclysm, everyone will want to buy Glyphs. So, there will be a healthy demand Glyphs over the next 6 months or so. This means that herbs will also sell pretty well on the AH too.

As for Enchanting, materials gained from Disenchanting weapons (specifically) can fetch a really decent amount on the AH. You need to be aware of the price of Essences for this to work.

On the flip side, leveling up your Enchanting profession can actually cost you a lot of gold. After level 200, you can sell your enchants on the AH by using Enchanting Vellums to cover your losses. You must take Tailoring with Enchanting or this craft will not be worth your time.

As a rule of thumb, any crafted item that requires some other materials that you must buy in the AH (and not from your profession vendor) should fetch you some gold. The problem is, these materials can be rare and costly (like Spider’s Silk). The the demand for crafted items at the lower levels also seem pretty low.

Gold Making Tip #6: It’s a World of War’Craft’ after all

As I mentioned, the 2 best professions to pick up to earn massive amounts of gold when Cataclysm hits are Mining and Herbalism. My next pick would be Skinning.

If these don’t appeal to you, go for Inscription. If you choose crafting, ensure that you have a complementing profession to help you level up. Here are the best pairs in my experience:-

Tailoring – Skinning –> useful for cloth wearers like Warlocks, Mages and Priests
Blacksmithing – Mining –> best professions for heavy armor classes like Warriors, Paladins and Death Knights
Leatherworking – Skinning –> best professions for leather wearers like Rogues, Shamans or Druids
Jewelcrafting – Mining –> best professions for your hybrid characters like Paladins, Druids and Shamans
Engineering – Mining –>  best professions for your PvP and dungeon raiding toons
Inscription – Herbalism –> useful for all classes
Alchemy – Herbalism –> useful for all classes
Enchanting – Tailoring –> useful for all classes

Alright folks, that’s it for now. I hope you’ve found this Cataclysm Gold Guide useful!

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Gold Guide

Hey there and welcome to my Cataclysm Gold Guide. This blog has been specially created for my WoW friends and guild mates who struggle with the gold making aspect of the game.

But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Kate and I have been playing WoW for over 3 years. I am sometimes called the Guild banker as I am the go-to person in my guilds for gold matters and loans. I usually help any newbie guildies who struggle with getting their wings in the Outlands and Northrend.

My mains are a Troll Shammy (Ghost Wolf form is flippin’ mon) and a Tauren Druid (+15 Herbalism and flight form, baby!)

With Cataclysm coming up, life has been really exciting for me! I guess it’s because I have some insider news on how the game is going to explode economically speaking. The first public secret is … there will be a real swing from PvE looting to gold making from crafting. That’s excellent news as I have a Grand Master toon for all the professions.

(I wonder what goodies are in store for the Archeology profession? The pay-off will probably be similar to fishing, don’t you think? It is after all a Secondary Profession!)

That’s why some of my pals call me ‘anal’. I just gotta have it all. Crafting and leveling up all those toons has taken up a lot of my time coz I am a casual player. I rarely play more than 4 hours a day, or 5 days a week. So, there you have it. You don’t have to be a gaming freak to earn loads of gold in the World of Warcraft.

That’s the truth. Making gold in WoW is easy. If you know how to… and you’ll probably need some sort of guidance from a Cataclysm Gold Guide of course.

Making WoW gold is the part of the World of Warcraft that I love the most. Gold making and crafting, to be precise. It’s so utterly sweet to be able to sell my crafted items for 500g a pop onwards. I also love running dailies and events, dungeon raiding… hmmm… maybe that’s why I have been playing the game for so long.

Anyway… For the past few months, the WoW economy has been pretty soft. Not many people are around to buy or sell stuff on the Auction House. In fact, many players dropped off their subscriptions/accounts which left the servers empty, but this has been a great time for me. I’ve secretly spent a lot of my spare gold buying up items that will cost a BOMB when Cataclysm arrives. Yes, I’ve got beta insight.

Alright, so in this blog, I am going to spill some of the kittens I have in my bag. These tips will help you improve on your gold situation and hopefully get you all those Glyphs, Dual Talents, Epic Mounts and whatever your heart pleases.

Till then, enjoy!

Cheers,
Kate
